Notice CP09 or CP27 is a letter the IRS sends you if you might be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) but you didn't claim it when you filed your taxes. The notices ask you to confirm a few facts about your and your household in order to claim the credit, which could be worth over $6,000.
There is no upper age limit for claiming the credit if taxpayers have earned income. The EITC is generally available to workers without qualifying children who are at least 19 years old with earned income below $21,430 for those filing single and $27,380 for spouses filing a joint return.
