Effective June 1, 2025, these revisions largely reinstate pre-2021 underwriting criteria by adjusting loan size limits, clarifying eligibility requirements, and restoring several longstanding SBA policies.
Why is SBA taking so long?
Yesbusinesses can have more than one SBA loan, provided they meet the eligibility requirements for each and maintain a strong repayment history. The Small Business Administration does not place a strict limit on the number of SBA loans a business can hold.
Is the SBA loan back open?
SBA loans take longer to close than traditional loans because theres more red tape. Since theyre partially backed by the government, lenders have to check every box (collateral, permits, compliance paperwork, etc.) before the funds are released.
Is the SBA loan still available in 2025?
As of January 1, 2022, SBA stopped accepting applications for new COVID-19 EIDL loans or advances. As of May 6, 2022, SBA is no longer processing COVID-19 EIDL loan increase requests or requests for reconsideration of previously declined loan applications.
