Who qualifies for a regional center in California?
Qualifying conditions include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, and other disabling conditions as defined in Section 4512(a)(1) of the California Welfare and Institutions Code. Eligibility is established through diagnosis and assessment performed by regional centers.
How long does a regional center take?
The regional centers must complete the intake process within 45 days for infants and toddlers under three. For individuals over the age of three and adults, the process must be completed within 120 days. Once the assessments are done, an eligibility team will review all the information.
