Introduced in only 2011, the QBR is by far the most accurate rating for the QB position in my opinion. QBR takes into focus the whole of the game including sacks, fumbles, rushing yards, and penalties.
NFL and CFL formula The NFL passer rating formula includes five variables: pass attempts, completions, passing yards, touchdown passes, and interceptions. Each of those variables is scaled to a value between 0 and 2.375, with 1.0 being statistically average (based on league data between 1960 and 1970).
The Passer rating is a measure of the performance of passers, primarily quarterbacks, in American football and Canadian football. The Passer rating equals one hundred thirds times the sum of the completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdowns per attempt and interceptions per attempt components.
A rating of 158.3 is considered a perfect passer rating since its the highest rating a quarterback can receive. In general, a rating above 100 is considered quite good. Passer rating does have its limitations. In todays NFL, quarterbacks are throwing for more yards, more touchdown passes, and fewer interceptions.
The NFL Passer Rating is a compound statistic used by the league to measure a quarterbacks overall passing performance in any given game. It considers four factors: completion percentage; yards per attempt; touchdown percentage; and interception percentage.

People also ask

How does the NFL calculate its passer ratings? The NFLs system uses four metrics: completion percentage, yards per attempt, percentage of touchdowns thrown per attempt, and percentage of interceptions per attempt. The four factors are weighted equally. A score between zero and 2.375 is calculated for each metric.
