Why do you see 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 on the copyright page of many books? that tells you it is the fourth printing. It is very common for a publisher to print only a few thousand copies of the book in the first printing. If that first run sells out, then a second printing is ordered to fill demand.

Is 13579108642 a first edition?

Check the pages of the book, whether they are of good quality or not, whether they are in order or not, whether any pages are repeated or missing. Check whether the logo of the publisher is mentioned on the spine and the cover or not. Check whether the contents of the pages are properly aligned or not.

Is 1/3,5/7,9/10,8,6/4,2 a first edition book?

A number line is usually present (thats the line of numbers on the copyright page). Usually, if a one is present in the line then its a first edition. For example, 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 and 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 are both examples of first editions.

How do you know if its 1st edition?

A first edition second impression would show 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 (the number 1 has gone). Some publishers show the numbers in a different form (such as 10987654321 or even 13579108642) or use letters (such as abcdefghi).

How do you know a first edition book?

Sometimes the word First Edition will helpfully be printed on that page, often described as First edition stated by booksellers. First printing, First Impression, and First Published are other ways of publishers stating the first edition.
