The most important thing to bring on the IELTS test day is your identification, either your passport or national ID, depending on which one you used for your IELTS test registration. You will need the same identification for your IELTS Speaking test as well.
IELTS Academic assesses your English skills for academic environments, while IELTS General Training also tests for practical and everyday language. PTE (Pearson Test of English) has a strong focus on academic English. Both tests are the same level of difficulty.

As per the latest IELTS new rules 2025, test takers must use a black ball pen for paper-based tests, effective from 22 February 2025. There has been some changes in listening section of IELTS exam 2025. This IELTS exam section will now include AI-driven adaptive questions that are tailored to the candidates responses.
What do I need to bring into the test room? your ID / identification document. Test takers must use a blank ink pen to complete their IELTS test, supplied by the test centre. Personal stationery, including pencils, are not permitted in the test room.
