CAP requires that all high complexity testing personnel have earned at least a minimum of an associate degree in a laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution. Personnel performing moderately complex testing must have earned a high school diploma or equivalent.
To work in a high complexity testing laboratory, testing personnel are required to have at least an associates degree and a current state license, where applicable. Depending on the testing performed, personnel may be required to have higher levels of education, up to a doctorate.
Hold a masters degree in lab science and one year lab training or experience and one year experience supervising non-waived tests.
