The Graduate College has a Dissertation Travel Grants program to subsidize travel and costs associated with dissertation research (approximately 12 awards of up to $5,000 College-wide per year, depending on funding availability). These awards are not to be used for conference travel.
Conference Grants are awarded to organizations (not individuals) to provide support for meetings, conferences, and workshops to coordinate, exchange, and disseminate research information.
The conference travel grant reimburses specific expenses related to conferences, symposia, seminars, or colloquia organized by professional associations within or related to the graduate students field of study or discipline, or a related field that may be conducive to their academic or professional development.
Travel grants can cover travel costs such as airfare, rental cars, accommodations, conference registration fees, and other travel-related expenses. However, it can not be used to cover per-diem food expenses or personal expenses.
A student who is attending or presenting their research work in a conference may apply for a TGS travel grant. Students are eligible for a maximum of two grants up to $800 per trip.
