Students on academic notice are subject to Academic Disqualification from SJSU if their subsequent Fall or Spring term GPA is below a 2.0. Administrative-Academic Disqualification can occur if a student is not making satisfactory progress towards degree completion regardless of their GPA.
Probation - Academic An undergraduate student is placed on academic probation if the SJSU cumulative grade point average falls below a C average (2.0). Students will remain on academic probation until they return to good academic standing (SJSU cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 2.0) or are disqualified.
After having been on academic notice, a student is academically disqualified if their CSUCI and/or cumulative GPA falls below the following: Freshman (29 units or less)- 1.50. Sophomore (30-59 units)- 1.70. Junior (60-89 units)- 1.85.
Grade Forgiveness Policy The original grade remains on the transcript. However, the students GPA will be refreshed using points earned by the new grade, regardless if the new grade is higher or lower than the original. Note that this only applies to courses taken and repeated at SJSU.
Students are allowed to take any class a maximum of two times. Failure to meet minimum grade requirements when retaking a course will result in academic disqualification from the program.
