The agency revised the violent crime rate between 2021 and 2022. Previously, the figures showed a 2.1% fall over this period, now the agency says there was a 4.5% rise.
The FBIs crime statistics estimates, based on reported data for 2023, show that national violent crime decreased an estimated 3.0% in 2023 compared to 2022 estimates: and non-negligent manslaughter recorded a 2023 estimated nationwide decrease of 11.6% compared to the previous year.
The collection was created after Congress passed the Hate Crime Statistics Act in 1990. These statistics may be used to: help law enforcement address issues for their communities.
