The Directors Guild of America is a labor organization that represents the creative and economic rights of directors and members of the directorial team working in film, television, commercials, documentaries, news, sports and new media.
How much is initiation? The initiation fee for directors joining on low-budget (under $11 million) narrative and documentary features is $3,500, with 40% payable up front and the remainder paid out over a year. The regular (non-low-budget) initiation fee is $14,802 (updated annually on July 1).
The DGA is governed by an elected National Board of Directors made up of actively working DGA members and is managed by a professional staff of more than 170.
