What is the difference between F-1 OPT and F-1 stem OPT?

*OPT Type Pre-Completion: All employment occurs before the Program End Date. Post-Completion: All employment occurs after the Program End Date.

What documents do I need to travel on OPT?

You must have ALL documents listed below in order to travel and reenter the U.S.: unexpired Post-Completion OPT EAD card. a valid Form I-20, signed on page 2 by an HIO advisor (the signature must not be more than six months old at the time of reentry to the U.S.) an unexpired passport.

You will need to include a check or money order for $520 USD payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security with your OPT package.

What are the two types of OPT?

As long as you have applied for stem OPT before your opt ends you get an automatic 6 month extension and you are allowed to work (which of course gets shortened if your application is denied).
