The law defines four categories of CSAs: College or University Police; Non-police security staff responsible for monitoring College property; People/offices designated under our policy as those to whom/which crimes should be reported; and Officials with significant responsibility for student and campus activities.
The goal of the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act is to ensure students, prospective students, parents, and employees have access to accurate information about crimes committed on the campus and campus security procedures.
Examples of individuals who would not meet the criteria for being campus security authorities include: A faculty member who does not have any responsibility for student and campus activity beyond the classroom. Clerical or cafeteria staff. Facilities or maintenance staff.
Campus Police and Security Officers and Personnel: All campus police officers and security personnel, including sworn and non-sworn and contractors, are considered CSAs.
