IRS Form 2441 is used to claim the Child and Dependent Care Credit. The information entered on the form determines if you qualify and how much credit you can claim. Form 2441 is a two-page form thats broken down into three sections. Each section details a separate area of qualifying factors and calculations.
If you are married at the end of the year, your spouses earned income is also taken into account. Dollar limit. The maximum amount on which the credit can be figured is $3,000 for one qualifying person or $6,000 for two or more qualifying persons.
To claim the credit, you (and your spouse, if youre married) must have income earned from a job and you must have paid for the care so that you could work or look for work. You can claim from 20% to 35% of your care expenses up to a maximum of $3,000 for one person, or $6,000 for two or more people (tax year 2024).
