Tax rates, penalties, fees The current rates for the Business Income Receipts Tax (BIRT) are 1.415 mills ($1.415 per $1,000) on gross receipts, and 5.99% on taxable net income.
Wage and Earnings taxes Employers must begin withholding Wage Tax at the new 3.75% rate from all paychecks issued to Philadelphia residents after June 30, 2023. The rate was previously 3.79%. The non-resident rate remains the same a flat 3.44%. The new Earnings Tax rate for residents is 3.75% for 2023.
Beginning with tax year 2022, the rate for residents will be 3.79% (previously 3.8398%). The new rate will apply to all applicable unearned income received in tax year 2022 (January through December 2022). Please contact your Mazars professional for additional information.
