A mature student, for Alberta High School Diploma purposes, is one who, as of September 1 of the current school year, is: 19 years of age or older, or. the holder of a previously awarded high school diploma from the province of Alberta, or an equivalent high school diploma from a jurisdiction acceptable to the minister.
In general, admission to undergraduate programs is based on a minimum average of 70% (on a 50% passing scale) on five high school admission subjects required by the program of study at the Grade 12-level (or equivalent). All five admission subjects must be above the minimum passing grade.
Performance requirement: Minimum GPA of 2.0.
Academic Requirements The minimum Admission Grade Point Average (AGPA) required for admission to a graduate program is 3.0, equivalently, a letter grade B, on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent standing. Many graduate programs have higher minimum AGPA requirements.

To be considered for admission as a nonmatriculated applicant, a student must be 21 years of age or older by the first day of classes of the term in which admission is sought. (3) Presentation of Faculty minimum average on (1) and (2), and a competitive AGPA if any postsecondary-level course work is presented.
Mature student status may be granted to applicants who are over 18 years old and do not have a high school diploma or GED. It is intended to allow applicants who have not completed high school the opportunity to be considered for admission, based on the skills and experience they have acquired since leaving school.
Admission averages are calculated using the final grades in the five courses required by the program you have applied for. Where grade 12 final marks are not available, we will use the final mark achieved in the grade 11 equivalent course.
