Transfer students are admitted to Brown under a need-aware admission policy, meaning an applicants ability to pay is factored into the admission decision. Financial aid application materials allow us to determine a transfer students eligibility for Browns institutional financial aid, and for federal aid.
The Transfer Application, Instructor Evaluations, College Report, Mid-Term Report, College Transcript, and Final High School Transcript are all required. While we may evaluate an application with missing credentials, the most competitive applications will be from those who have submitted all required materials.
F-1 regulations permit a student to transfer from one Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) approved school to another.
To be eligible for transfer admission you must have completed at least one full year of college study (or its equivalent) before your planned matriculation at Brown.
Browns transfer admission process is need-aware, meaning that an applicants ability to pay for tuition, room and board is considered when we make an admission decision.

Transfer Rate? Brown has a roughly 7% first-year acceptance rate and a roughly 8% transfer acceptance rate. This transfer acceptance rate is higher than all but one other Ivy (a few Ivies in Browns first-year acceptance rate range have 2-3% transfer acceptance rates). Is there any reason for this?
