SAP Treatment of Grades For financial aid purposes, passing grades are A, B, C, D, S and P. Grades of F, I, U, X, T or W indicate the course was attempted but not passed or completed.
C - this is a grade that rests right in the middle. C is anywhere between 70% and 79% D - this is still a passing grade, and its between 59% and 69% F - this is a failing grade.
Most colleges and universities generally consider a D (or a 60% to 69% score) as a passing grade. Its important to note that this minimum or lowest passing grade standard can significantly vary depending on the institution or major. For instance, some universities may require a C or better to pass.
P/F-Pass or Fail Used for workshops, activity courses, and student teaching. The Pass grade of P indicates hours earned, but does not contribute to the GPA. The Fail grade of F indicates failure to meet the minimum standards for passing, and is calculated into the GPA.
For undergraduates: full-time is 12 hours or more; three-quarter time is 9-11 hours, and half-time is 6-8 hours. For students working on a Masters degree: full-time is 9 or more hours and half-time is 5-8 hours. Students must be enrolled at least half-time for a student loan and/or work-study funding.
