You can establish proof of Michigan residency (see SOS-428) by presenting at least two documents. Proof of a valid Social Security number, U.S. citizenship or legal presence if not a U.S. citizen and identity will also be required. All documentation is subject to Department of State approval.
Michigan residents over age 18 will need to study Michigans driving laws. To apply for your Michigan license, complete and pass the vision exam and driver knowledge exam at your office visit. You will be issued a paper temporary permit to practice driving with a licensed adult for at least 30 days.
1.2 The new drivers license card should be available for collection at the DLTC at which the application was submitted within approximately six weeks. If the application for a new card is submitted within 2 months of expiry, the expiry date is extended for 3 months.
Register the car with your states motor vehicle department. Youll need to provide the title and required vehicle registration paperwork.
