In July 2024, Californias Right to Repair Act (SB 244) goes into effect, a docHub advancement for the right-to-repair movement. This law requires electronics and appliance manufacturers to supply necessary parts, tools, and documentation for repairs to both independent repair shops and product owners.
The California Right to Repair Act went into effect on 1 July 2024. It covers consumer electronic or appliance products, including cell phones, laptops, tablets, televisions, radios, audio or video recording equipment, manufactured and sold in California after 1 July 2021, with a wholesale price of not less than $50.
Rule of Repair: Repair what you can but when you must fail, fail noisily and as soon as possible. Software should be transparent in the way that it fails, as well as in normal operation.
If your vehicle failed its biennial Smog Check inspection, our repair assistance option may assist with costs towards your vehicles emissions-related repairs. Model year 1996 or newer vehicles may qualify for up to $1,450 for emissions-related repairs.
