Ral Torrez (born July 24, 1976) is an American lawyer and politician from New Mexico. A member of the Democratic Party, Torrez is the Attorney General of New Mexico.
At the outbreak of the Mexican War General Stephen H. Kearny was made commander of the Army of the West by President Polk and ordered to lead a 1700 man expeditionary force from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to occupy New Mexico and California.
Ral Torrez is New Mexicos 32nd Attorney General. A former federal prosecutor and senior advisor in the U.S. Department of Justice, he has dedicated his career to public service and strengthening the rule of law.
The current governor is Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, who was sworn in as the 32nd governor of New Mexico on January 1, 2019.
