Go to Edit Preferences Data entry and QuickFill. There you will see the option Automatically memorize new Payees. If you check that box, Quicken will add new Payees and the Category you assign them to the Memorized Payee List (MPL). Then when it see that Payee again, it will use the same Category.
You also have the option to edit the category from the memorized payee list (Click on Tools on the top menu bar, then select Memorized Payee List) and choose the correct category. This will then memorize the payee name to the correct category on future downloads. Automatic categorization is enabled.
Contact the local SSA office and explain the reasons for wanting to change a rep payee. The SSA office should then make a determination and notify everyone involved. If the beneficiary knows who they want to be their rep payee, the beneficiary should also ask that person to complete the appropriate SSA form.
Payees can be added manually: Click on Tools on the top menu bar, then select Memorized Payee List. Click New Payee. In the Create Memorized Payee dialog, enter the payee information. Click OK. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for each memorized payee you want to add.
To make sure payments get to your account safely, the person paying you will need the following information from you: Full first name and surname exactly as it appears on your account. Account number.
From the Quicken Tools menu, choose Category List. Choose New Category, which is located at the upper right of the Category List window. Type in a Category Name and Description. Select if this is going to be an Income or Expense type, or if it will be a Subcategory of a broader parent category.
Choose Tools menu Memorized Payee List. Select the payee to edit. Note: If the Lock option is checked in, click the checkbox to clear it. If you cannot see the locked status column, click Options at the bottom left of the Memorized Payee List and select Show locked status column in list.
For example if you want to transfer some money from Savings to Checking, enter the withdrawal transaction in the Savings account register put Checking in the Transfer field. You can also enter transfers directly in the Category column by entering Transfer: followed by the account name in square brackets.
