Welcome to another Lightblade Learning Lab as you can see Im in a fairly relaxed mood today, to start with anyway, because what Im going to do today is to talk about acrylic. There are two big problems when you come to cut or engrave acrylic, one of them is the edge striations and the other is all the deposit of acrylic vapor that gets put down onto the surface. The reason why I am relaxed is because Ive already done the first part of this video on my other machine, I did some experimental work over there to show you that striations are a natural phenomenon theyre not necessarily to do with the stepper motor, although I think youll realise that by the end of this session, that the main reason for the striations on the edge of your acrylic is the stepper motor but there are two mechanisms that cause striations and thats where were going to start off were going to start off with the natural striations.
