An executive summary is a brief overview at the beginning of your business plan intended to grab the readers attention and summarize critical information regarding your company overview and upcoming short-term and long-term goals. What is included? An executive summary should summarize the key points of the report. It should restate the purpose of the report, highlight the major points of the report, and describe any results, conclusions, or recommendations from the report.

Do not introduce any new information that is not in your report. Avoid using acronyms, in-house terminology or any other words or phrases that your target audience will not be familiar with. Avoid copying sentences and paragraphs from the report into the executive summary: this is not summarising.
As mentioned, you can get your readers thinking along the track youd like them to by including a quote or statistic in the first paragraph of your executive summary. This first paragraph is also where you should provide the name and nature of your business, and relevant insights about your industry.
While your report should include all of the most important metrics and data, aim for maximum conciseness. Dont include any information that may be abundant and try to keep the executive summary as short as possible.
