Does a DD214 mean you are a veteran?

What is a DD214 for?

DD Form 214 / DD214 / DD 214 Discharge Papers and Separation Documents. A Report of Separation is generally issued when a service member performs active duty or at least 90 consecutive days of active duty training.

What is a DD215 discharge?

When the Department of Defense (DOD) or the Coast Guard upgrades a Veterans discharge, it usually issues a DD215 showing corrections to the DD214. The DOD or the Coast Guard attaches the DD215 to the old DD214which still shows the outdated discharge and related information.
