Length of program: The length of certificate programs will vary and will likely be determined by the learning objectives. Twelve to 18 credit hours is typical. The cost to sit for the exams is $225 for the ABO examination and $225 for the NCLE examination. You will find everything you need to register for the exams on this site including the handbook, test specifications and the list of known review course providers, as well as links to where you can find study materials.
All ABO-NCLE certifications are valid for three (3) years. Continuing education credits (CECs) must be earned within the three year (3) certification period and may not be accumulated and carried over from one period to another.
ABO Certified: Send in 12 ABO- and/or NCLE-approved CECs (of which at least 6 hours are ABO-approved Ophthalmic CECs; the remainder can be either ABO- and/or NCLE-approved Ophthalmic or Non-Opthalmic) and the $125 fee.
