A student athlete, if it is believed that they might have sustained a concussion, shall not return to practice or competition until the student athlete has been evaluated and cleared in writing by his or her treating physician and all other notice and consent requirements have been met.
If a player sustains a concussion or suspected concussion during a match, a replacement can be allowed under strict conditions. Firstly, the injury must occur on the field and during active play. Also, the decision to request a substitute must be based on a formal diagnosis by the teams medical representative.
(d) A youth athlete who is suspected of sustaining a concussion or brain injury in practice or game shall be immediately removed from participation and may not return to play until the athlete is evaluated by a licensed physician and receives written clearance to return to play from a licensed physician.
