This important program demonstrates the states support for educational choice beyond the traditional public school classroom.
Atlanta, GA Starting March 1, eligible kindergarten through 12th grade students may apply for up to $6,500 in annual funding for private school tuition, tutoring services, and other qualified education expenses through the new Georgia Promise Scholarship Program.
The Promise Scholarship program allows students attending poor-performing schools to apply for vouchers up to $6,500 a year per student. A student must have enrolled in a Georgia public school attendance zone based on the Promise school list to be eligible.
To be eligible for gifted education services, a student must either (a) score at the 99th percentile (for grades K-2) or the 96th percentile (for grades 3-12) on the composite or full scale score of a norm-referenced test of mental ability and meet one of the achievement criteria described in paragraph (2)(d) 5.
