You can only visit an inmate if they have placed you on their visiting list and you have been cleared by the BOP. Upon arriving at a new prison, inmates create a visiting list using the following process: An inmate is given a Visitor Information Form when he/she arrives at a new facility.
To conduct an inmate search at Butte County Jail, you can use the Butte County Sheriffs Office (BCSO) booking logs, available on their website. This tool provides access to information such as inmate ID, booking details, and the charges against the inmate.
Valid picture identification is required to visit an inmate (this includes all forms of government identification cards). Visitors may be subject to a search of their person and belongings by correctional staff and are subject to warrant checks and arrest. Visitors must be 18 years or older to visit.
Visitors must arrive forty‐five (45) minutes early to allow for visitor registration and calling the inmate up to the visiting area. Visiting time is forty‐five (45) minutes on Saturday and Sunday. The only items you are allowed to bring to the Jail Lobby between the hours of 8:00 AM ‐ 12:00 AM and 12:30 PM ‐ 4:00 PM.
Funds can be deposited to inmates accounts through TouchPay. TouchPay offers online payments using a debit or credit card, kiosk payments, as well as telephone payments for a nominal processing fee. Funds will be credited to the inmates account approximately 30 minutes upon completion of the transaction.
