In accordance with Rhode Island General Law 34-18-58, all landlords are now required to register their rental properties with the Rhode Island Department of Health. This mandatory registry aims to ensure transparency, safety, and accountability in the rental market across the state.
You MUST complete a Narragansett Rental Registration form each year. Look for updated forms and fill them out completely. Go to .narragansettri.gov, click on departments, building inspections and rental registrations and the form is the first link. This form is due by December 31 of each year.
A new law in Narragansett, Rhode Island, will require guests to rent short-term rentals (STRs) for a minimum of seven nights. The ordinance goes into effect September 1, 2024. Under the regulations, STRs are defined as dwelling units that are rented for less than 30 consecutive nights.
Members of the public, including tenants, buyers, and REALTORS, can now search the Rhode Island Department of Health Rental Registry RI Rental Registry | Department of Health to see whether a property or unit has been registered.
