All workplace-based assessments are intended primarily to support learning so this feedback is very important.
The Direct observation of procedural skills (DOPS) is a RANZCP-approved Workplace-based Assessment (WBA) tool. The purpose of this tool is to promote learning for trainees by providing structured feedback on performance within an authentic workplace context.
One of the assessment methods that are designed for performance assessment is Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS) (1,2,4,5,7,9). DOPS is an assessment method designed specially by the Royal Medical College of England for assessing clinical skills (7).
