MATHCOUNTS Competition Series scores do not conform to traditional grading scales. Coaches and students should view an Individual Score of 23 (out of a possible 46) as highly commendable.
Target Round Students have 6 minutes to complete each set of two problems. Students may not go back to previous rounds (or forwards to future rounds) even if they finish before time is called. Calculators are allowed for the Target Round. Usually comprised of one confidence booster and one hard problem.
Usually around 1 in 12 of the USAMO gold medalists are female, and in over 30 years of Mathcounts, there hasnt ever been a single female Mathcounts champion. If you pick 30 people at random, the chance that none of them are female is less than one in a billion.

Go to mathcounts.org/register or click the REGISTER button in the top menu bar on the MATHCOUNTS website. (1) Online registration is the fastest way to register for all 3 MATHCOUNTS programs. For Competition Series schools, you can pay with check, PO or credit card when registering online.
In MathCounts, testing is conducted in four separate rounds; the Sprint, Target, Team, and Countdown rounds. The Sprint Round consists of 30 problems to be completed within the time limit of 40 minutes. This round is meant to test the accuracy and speed of the competitor.
Regular Registration Deadline: $45/student for schools and $70/non-school competitor (NSC).
