An OUF code is a unique system identifier assigned to a specific property held by the Office of Unclaimed Funds and is for our internal use only.
All businesses in the state of Ohio or any business holding funds due to Ohio residents are required to file an annual report of unclaimed funds. CPAs and attorneys that are in private practice are required to file an annual report of unclaimed funds.
Absolutely legitimate. The treasurer holds on to all property that belongs to residents of the state that cant be located. If a company cant locate you to return money lawfully owed to you (or other property), they can turn it over to the treasurer for safe keeping and you can claim it.
Search by state Most unclaimed money is held by state governments from sources such as bank accounts, insurance policies, or state agencies. Search for unclaimed money from your states unclaimed property office. If you have lived in other states, check their unclaimed property offices, too.
Accounts are considered dormant if the owner of a property has not indicated any interest in the property or if no contact has been made for the allotted dormancy period for that property. Dormancy periods in Ohio for common property types include: Wages or Payroll: One year. Checking Accounts: Five years.
