Most colleges and universities schedule two such sessions during the summer, known as the Summer I and Summer II sessions. Students can typically take either two or three courses per summer session, depending on their class level and current GPA.
For schools on the quarter system, the traditional academic year comprises three terms (fall, winter, and spring) that typically go from September to June. Summer credits count just the same as those earned during the regular school year.
If you do not wish to take any classes at all for a term, you must use the Cancellation/Withdrawal Form to withdraw from the term. In the form, you will select the Summer Term(s) that you wish to withdraw from. You will not be withdrawn from UC Davis. This action does not impact Fall enrollment status or registration.
