The following schools participate in the WWAMI program: Montana State University in Bozeman. University of Alaska Anchorage, (formerly at University of Alaska Fairbanks, until 1989) University of Idaho in Moscow. University of Washington in Seattle. University of Wyoming in Laramie.

What is the WWAMI medical program?

WWAMI is an acronym for the states served by the UW School of Medicines M.D. and Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs: Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho.

Will Alaska pay for medical school?

The education of all Alaska WWAMI medical students is subsidized by the State of Alaska via payments to the University of Washington School of Medicine. The State of Alaska views these subsidies as loans that are repayable once medical education is complete. Loan repayment can be deferred during residency training.
