The Thesis/Dissertation Approval (TDA) form indicates that the students committee and department approve of the content and format of a students thesis. There are separate versions of the TDA for masters and doctoral students. This form must be completed and fully signed prior to submission to the Graduate College.
The structure of the abstract should mirror the structure of the whole thesis, and should represent all its major elements. For example, if your thesis has five chapters (introduction, literature review, methodology, results, conclusion), there should be one or more sentences assigned to summarize each chapter.
A good dissertation title should be: Descriptive and explanatory (not general) Precise. Possibly include important components/aspects of the research strategy e.g. situated nature, population, methodology.
Complete it covers the major parts of the project. Concise it contains no excess wordiness or unnecessary information. Clear it is readable, well organized, and not too jargon-laden. Cohesive it flows smoothly between the parts.
Approval comes only after the document is read and the format reviewed for consistency with the guidelines. The final copy of the dissertation must be acceptable to all members of the committee as witnessed by the signatures on the approval page.
