The goals of the Engineering Honors Program are: Provide a common first-year student experience that challenges students and faculty both technically and non-technically. Provide a project experience that demonstrates knowledge and skills that exceed normal undergraduate requirements.
Admission into the Honors Program or a Scholars Program is competitive and based on a multi-faceted review of multiple factors. Placement is not guaranteed based solely on academic record.
The Honors Contract is designed to recognize undergraduate students who complete a rigorous, well-rounded portfolio of experiences, both inside and outside the classroom, in order to enhance their Bachelor of Science degree in their desired field of Engineering.
An Honors contract is a way for motivated students to work with participating professors to offer an otherwise non-Honors course, completing additional assignments (as stipulated by the contract) to count towards completion of the Honors program.
The B Eng. Tech (Hons) degree is a postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8 which prepares students for industry and research to become either competent engineering technologists and/or engineers (upon completion of an accredited structured Masters programme in addition to the B Eng.
