Introduced in House (05/18/2023) This bill permanently prohibits the slaughter of equines (e.g., horses and mules) for human consumption. (Current law prohibits the slaughter of dogs and cats for human consumption. This bill extends the prohibition to equines.)
Equine activity statutes are enacted to protect horsemen, camps, stables, and other horse providers from frivolous lawsuits arising out of horse accidents that could not have been avoided. The statutes provide that a person may not bring a lawsuit if the accident resulted from an inherent risk of equine activities.
Its a guideline suggesting that a horse should carry no more than 20% of its body weight, including the weight of the rider, tack, and any other equipment. However, as weve explored, many factors like fitness, conformation, and activity level can influence this.
Liability coverage is provided if you are sued by a third party who is injured or whose property is damaged (excluding horses: see Care, Custody, Control). The commercial equine liability policy covers defense fees and pays claims for which you are legally liable up to the policy limits.
In short, just about anybody involved in teaching riding in a stable or camp, in training or renting horses, conducting trail rides, or in putting together a horse event is covered by these statutes.

People also ask

An equine activity statute is a law designed to limit liability for injuries and deaths connected with horse-related activities.
These waivers allow you and the participants in horse-related activities to be informed and fully aware of the limits of your responsibility in the case of injury or death. A Release of Liability Waiver discourages a lawsuit from an injured participant and in case of death, it will support your defense.
