Using Credit/No Credit This option gives you the flexibility to take courses outside of your program area with no impact to your grade point average for a maximum of 2.0 credits. If you pass a course with a final grade of at least 50%, a notation of CR will appear on your transcript.
The credit/no credit grading option is designed to encourage students to explore areas of academic interest that they might otherwise avoid for fear of poor grades. Credit/no credit courses are not counted toward the GPA, but are included as part of the total credit hours and are assessed as credit hours.
Deciding to Switch a Class to Pass/No Credit (P/NC) For graduate courses, a grade of Pass (P) is equivalent to the minimum passing grade for the program. A No Credit (NC) equals all failing grades below the minimum passing grade and will not count toward graduation. (Note: These policies do not apply at PLTS)
In many courses, it is possible to obtain credit for the course without receiving a letter grade. If you decide to receive a grade based on this system, you will receive a Pass (P) instead of A, B, C, or D and will receive No Credit (NC) instead of F.
Any undergraduate student may elect the credit-no credit option. To elect the credit-no credit option, students must obtain the approval of their adviser or, in the case of self-paced online courses, their adviser or college office, if applicable.
