The Deans Certificate of Merit Award is awarded to the top 5% of students in a degree program in recognition of excellence in academics, requiring a consistently strong academic performance, a record free from academic warnings or disciplinary actions, and a GPA reflecting the highest level of achievement.
Emeritus status is an honor conferred by the University to show respect for a distinguished career.
Professors Emeriti are welcome to continue to work with graduate students already under their supervision, although they may not take on newly enrolled students after retirement.
Emeritus/a Status The designation may be awarded to tenured or to full-time non-tenure-track faculty on or after retirement, or be preapproved in contemplation of retirement to be effective upon retirement. Further details can be found in Section 9-A of the Faculty Handbook.
