The Online Writing Lab (the Purdue OWL) at Purdue University houses writing resources and instructional material, and we provide these as a free service at Purdue. Students, members of the community, and users worldwide will find information to assist with many writing projects.
Welcome to the Purdue OWL The online writing lab offers global support through online reference materials and services for creating citations, cover letters, major-specific writing help, and general writing advice. The physical writing lab serves the on-campus Purdue community of students and faculty.
The Purdue OWL is clearly the only safe choice for student writers.
Purdue OWL was the one resource I could point students to and be able to say, This is a credible source of citation information thats relatively easy to understand. This was a resource I shared with students at the reference desk, in my classroom, and in my side gig as an online writing tutor.
