Presidential Correspondence is responsible for processing all mail, email, and parcels addressed to the President of the United States. The office mission is to listen to the writers views, experiences, and ideas and coordinate an automated response on behalf of the White House.
How do you write letters to public officials? Open the letter in an official manner. Explain the purpose for your letter. Summarize your understanding of the issue/decision being considered. Explain your position on this issue. Describe what any changes will mean to you, and to others.
Because so many of you write, the President cannot personally review each message, though he does receive samples of his incoming correspondence. The White House Correspondence staff helps him read and respond to the mail.
Send a letter to the White House If you write a letter, please consider typing it on an 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper. If you hand-write your letter, please write as neatly as possible with an ink pen. Include your return address on your letter as well as on your envelope.
