ASAP is a need-based, state grant ranging from $300 to $5,000 per academic year. Eligible students are undergraduate students who are Alabama residents attending eligible Alabama institutions. Nearly 80 Alabama institutions participate in the program.
Your student loan servicer(s) will notify you directly after your forgiveness is processed. Make sure to keep your contact information up to date on StudentAid.gov and with your servicer(s). If you havent yet qualified for forgiveness, youll be able to see your exact payment counts in the future.
The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance balance on your direct loans (federally funded student loans) after you have made 120 (10 years) qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
The monthly payment on a $70,000 student loan ranges from $742 to $6,285, depending on the APR and how long the loan lasts. For example, if you take out a $70,000 student loan and pay it back in 10 years at an APR of 5%, your monthly payment will be $742.
The Alabama Student Assistance Program is available to state residents who are attending eligible Alabama institutions. Undergraduate students who are pursuing a professional certification, associate, or bachelors degree are eligible to apply. Recipients are chosen for their demonstration of financial need.
