Dinosaur National Monument is a Federal Fee Area. Visitors must purchase or present a valid pass - Standard or Annual Dinosaur Pass, America the Beautiful Pass, Senior Pass, Military Pass, Access Pass, 4th Grade Pass, or Volunteer Pass. Other fees may apply to groups, organizations, and businesses.
Prices are very reasonable - adults are $17, kids are $12 and kids 2 and under are free. You are encouraged to bring snacks/lunch as there are no restaurants or snack shops.
There are four paved roads in the park. All other roads in the park are dirt/clay. These roads are impassable when wet. Be prepared for remote driving conditions.
The National Park Service does not recommend swimming in the rivers at Dinosaur National Monument. Flow rates can be dangerously high, especially during certain weather events and during the spring runoff.
Getting a permit to float the Gates of Lodore requires entering a lottery, and with only two launches per day during the high season, and one a day during the low season, getting the opportunity to experience this stretch of river is something many boaters may have to wait years for.
