The rule states that knee radiographs are indicated in these patients if at least one of the following criteria is satisfied: the patient is at least 55 years old, has an inability to bear weight immediately after trauma and in the ED for four steps (regardless of limp), has isolated patellar tenderness, fibular head
According to the Ottawa knee rule, knee X-ray is only required after a knee injury for people with any of these findings: Inability to weight bear both immediately and during the consultation for four steps (inability to transfer weight twice onto each lower limb regardless of limping).
