What are the transfer policies for App State?

A minimum grade of C (2.0) is required for all transfer coursework. Grades of C- (minus) and below will not transfer. Coursework in excess of 10 years old is subject to validation. The transfer GPA is used for admission purposes only and does not count toward the Appalachian GPA.

How many credits to transfer to App State?

How many credits do I need to apply? You must have, at minimum, 12 graded transfer hours on a transcript to apply and be in progress of 24 transfer hours. Applicants with fewer than 24 hours of transferable credit will be reviewed based on high school GPA , and all attempted college coursework.

Will my credits transfer to App State?

At App State, only courses with a grade of C (2.0) or higher from regionally accredited institutions are eligible to transfer and be counted as transferable hours for admission purposes. Additionally, we do NOT accept developmental or supplemental coursework.

Can I get into App State with a 2.8 GPA?

Test Score Consideration for First-year Applicants Test Scores (ACT/SAT) will not be required for fall 2025 and spring 2026 first-year applicants with a weighted GPA of 2.8 or above. If you have a weighted GPA below 2.8, you will be required to self-report a test score with your application.
