How do you get selected for an Honor Flight?

How are veterans chosen to go on a flight? Veterans are chosen based on when they served in the US Military. Currently first priority is given to WWII veterans, followed by Korea War veterans. Veterans within the same war era are prioritized by the date that the application is received.

Why cant wives go on honor flights?

The only spouses who are permitted to go are those who are Veterans themselves. A wife could conceivably go on the same flight if she were to be a guardian, but she can not be her husbands guardian.

How does a veteran get selected for the Honor Flight?

How do you decide which veterans get to go? Veterans are flown on a first-come, first-served basis. Top priority is currently given to World War II veterans and veterans with terminal illness. Our second priority is to Korean War veterans and then Vietnam War veterans.

How do you get on the Honor Flight list?

A: If a program does not exist in your part of the country, please apply to the national Honor Flight Network. To access that application, go to .honorflight.org and click on Applications. Once the application has been received, you will be invited to participate on a flight in your general region of the country.

What are the qualifications to go on an Honor Flight?

Who is eligible for Honor Flight trip? Any veteran who served in a branch of the U.S. military during WWII, the Korean War or Vietnam, or a veteran from any service era who is currently terminally ill, is currently eligible to go on an Honor Flight trip as an honored veteran free of charge.

How long is the waiting list for an Honor Flight?

Once you have applied as a veteran, you are placed on a waitlist. WWII and Korean War veterans are scheduled for a trip first, and Vietnam veterans have about a 2 - 3 year wait. We will call you once your application has been reached, but please reach out via eagle@honorflight.org if your health diminishes.

How much does an Honor Flight cost per veteran?

The cost is FREE for eligible veterans. Its our way to say Thank You for your service. You do not need to bring any money, unless you intend to purchase souvenirs.
