The Admissions Committee finds that students are best prepared for NYU if they have studied the following subjects: 4 years of English/Writing. 3-4 years of mathematics. 3-4 years of foreign language.
English Proficiency If your native language is not English, you must demonstrate your level of proficiency in English in at least one of the following ways: Your undergraduate or graduate degree was taught in English. You have a TOEFL score of at least 100. You have an IELTS score of at least 7.
Students whose entire secondary schooling was in a language other than English, or who complete the International Writing Workshop I, II sequence (EXPOS-UA 4, 9), are exempt from the foreign language requirement. Also exempt are students in the dual-degree engineering program.
We dont have minimum score requirements, but competitive applicants will receive: 100 and above on the TOEFL iBT. 135 and above on the Duolingo English Test. 7.5 and above on the IELTS Academic.
The 12-point exam assesses reading, writing, listening and oral proficiency. It consists of multiple-choice questions, short answers, one essay, one translation, two short audio sections, and two oral responses. The 16-point exam comprises the 12-point exam, as well as advanced oral and written components.
