Only leave isolation after 5 days if you have no symptoms or your symptoms are improving, including at least 24 hours without a fever.
Eligibility. All private-sector employees in New York State are covered, regardless of industry, occupation, part-time status, and overtime exempt status. Federal, state, and local government employees are NOT covered, but employees of charter schools, private schools, and not-for-profit corporations are covered.
Some employers in New York State are required to provide at least 5 or 14 days of job protected, paid COVID-19 sick leave to employees who need to take leave because they are under a mandatory or precautionary order of quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19.
After more than five years of providing additional quarantine-related leave for COVID-19, beginning July 31, 2025, New Yorks COVID-19 Paid Emergency Leave (the Law) will expire, and employers will no longer be required to provide separate leave for COVID-19 quarantines and isolations.
