So while there is no New Jersey background check seven-year limit, the FCRAs seven-year lookback period applies to arrests that do not lead to conviction. A few exceptions apply to the seven-year rule included in the FCRA.

The process should take approximately two weeks from when the applicant is fingerprinted unless follow-up investigation is required. The applicants will no longer receive a letter with the blue seal of the State of New Jersey mailed to their home address.
